Account & Data Deletion Policy
Climbing Mountains respects your ability to control your personal information.
This Account & Data Deletion Policy explains how users may request deletion of their Climbing Mountains account and associated personal information, what information is generally deleted, what information may be retained, and how deletion affects information stored locally or by third-party services.
This policy applies to the Climbing Mountains mobile application, website and blog, online store, and related services.
1. How to Delete Your Climbing Mountains Account
If you created a Climbing Mountains account, you may request deletion of your account and eligible associated personal information.
Delete Your Account in the App
Where available, account deletion can be initiated directly within the Climbing Mountains app.
Navigate to the account or profile settings and select the available Delete Account option.
You may be asked to confirm the deletion or authenticate your identity before the request is completed.
Request Deletion by Email
You may also request account or personal-data deletion by contacting:
support@climbingmountains.com
Please contact us using the email address associated with your Climbing Mountains account when possible.
We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing a request.
2. What Happens When Your Account Is Deleted
When an eligible account-deletion request is completed, Climbing Mountains will delete or disassociate personal information associated with your account except where information must or may be retained for legitimate legal, security, transaction, accounting, fraud-prevention, or compliance purposes.
Depending on the features you have used, information subject to deletion may include:
-
Account profile information
-
Display name and associated account information
-
Personal mountain and summit information
-
Inspirations
-
Journey progress
-
Cloud-stored journal entries
-
Lesson progress
-
Challenge progress
-
Daily challenge information
-
Milestones and badges
-
Completed mountain information
-
Eligible cloud-backup information
-
App settings and preferences
-
Other eligible personal information associated with your Climbing Mountains account
Deletion is intended to remove the user’s Climbing Mountains account and associated eligible personal data rather than simply disabling access to the account.
3. Journal Entries
Journal entries stored as part of your eligible Climbing Mountains cloud data are subject to deletion when your account and associated cloud data are deleted.
This may include information such as:
-
Journal titles
-
Written reflections
-
Moods
-
Gratitude entries
-
Wins
-
Struggles
-
Favorites
-
Entry dates and related journal information
Once eligible cloud journal information has been deleted, it may not be recoverable.
4. Journal Photos
Journal photographs require special consideration because the current version of Climbing Mountains stores journal photos locally on your device.
Journal photos are not currently included in Climbing Mountains Cloud Backup.
Deleting your Climbing Mountains account therefore does not necessarily control every copy of a photograph that may exist elsewhere on your device, in your device’s photo library, in an operating-system backup, or in another service you use.
Removing the Climbing Mountains app or its locally stored application data may permanently remove locally stored journal-photo files used by the app.
If a photograph also exists in your device’s regular photo library, deleting your Climbing Mountains account does not delete the original photograph from that photo library.
5. Cloud Backup
If you have used Climbing Mountains Cloud Backup, eligible cloud-backed information associated with your account is subject to deletion as part of the account-deletion process.
Depending on the version and features used, this may include eligible:
-
Profile information
-
Journey information
-
Journal data
-
Lesson progress
-
Challenge progress
-
Milestones
-
Completed mountains
-
Settings
-
Other app progress
Journal photos are not currently included in Cloud Backup.
6. Information Stored on Your Device
Some Climbing Mountains information may be stored locally on your device.
Account deletion primarily addresses your Climbing Mountains account and eligible information maintained through Climbing Mountains services.
Depending on your device, operating system, backups, and app configuration, locally stored information may remain until it is removed from the device or the associated application data is removed.
Device backups maintained by Apple or another provider may be subject to that provider’s own retention and deletion practices.
7. Website and Blog Information
Deleting your Climbing Mountains app account does not necessarily delete information you separately provided through the Climbing Mountains website or blog.
For example, you may have independently provided information through:
-
A contact form
-
Email communication
-
Newsletter or email signup
-
Another website feature
If you would like to request deletion of eligible personal information controlled by Climbing Mountains through the website or blog, contact:
support@climbingmountains.com
Please provide enough information for us to reasonably identify the information involved.
8. Shopify and Store Information
Deleting your Climbing Mountains app account does not automatically delete information maintained independently through the Climbing Mountains Shopify store.
Information related to purchases may include:
-
Customer information
-
Orders
-
Shipping information
-
Billing records
-
Payment records
-
Refund information
-
Fulfillment information
Shopify, payment processors, fulfillment providers, and shipping carriers may maintain information according to their own legal obligations, retention requirements, and privacy policies.
Certain transaction records may also need to be retained for accounting, taxation, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legal purposes.
You may contact support@climbingmountains.com if you have a privacy request concerning information associated with a Climbing Mountains purchase.
9. Apple and Google Accounts
Climbing Mountains may allow authentication using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
Deleting your Climbing Mountains account does not delete your underlying Apple Account or Google Account.
Those accounts are independently maintained by Apple and Google.
Account deletion removes or disassociates eligible Climbing Mountains information associated with your authentication identity as applicable to the Climbing Mountains service.
You may need to manage other permissions, authorizations, or information directly through Apple or Google where applicable.
10. Information We May Retain
Some information may be retained after an account-deletion request when reasonably necessary or required for purposes such as:
-
Compliance with applicable law
-
Tax and accounting obligations
-
Transaction and payment records
-
Fraud prevention
-
Security and abuse prevention
-
Resolving disputes
-
Exercising or defending legal claims
-
Enforcing applicable agreements
-
Maintaining required business records
-
Protecting Climbing Mountains and its users
Where information must be retained, we will seek to retain it only for as long as reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose or as required by law.
11. Backups and Technical Deletion
Information may temporarily remain in secure system backups after it has been removed from active systems.
Where applicable, such information may remain until backups are overwritten or expire according to applicable backup-retention processes.
Information retained solely within backups is not intended to be restored to active use except where reasonably necessary for disaster recovery, security, or legal purposes.
12. Feedback and Support Communications
Information contained in support correspondence or feedback may not always be automatically removed with your app account because those communications may exist separately from the account’s primary app data.
You may request deletion of eligible personal information contained in these records by contacting:
support@climbingmountains.com
Certain records may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or other legitimate purposes permitted by law.
13. How Long Deletion Takes
Climbing Mountains will process verified deletion requests within a reasonable period and within any timeframe required by applicable law.
Some information may take additional time to disappear from backups, logs, or third-party systems.
If additional information is reasonably necessary to verify or complete your request, we may contact you.
14. Deletion Is Permanent
Account deletion should be considered permanent.
Once your Climbing Mountains account and eligible cloud data have been deleted, information such as journal entries, journey progress, completed lessons, challenge progress, milestones, badges, and other associated information may not be recoverable.
If you later return to Climbing Mountains, you may need to create a new account and begin a new journey.
15. Third-Party Services
Deleting your Climbing Mountains account does not automatically delete information independently controlled by third-party services.
These may include:
-
Apple
-
Google
-
Wix
-
Shopify
-
Payment processors
-
Fulfillment providers
-
Shipping carriers
-
Other third-party services you choose to use
Requests concerning information independently controlled by those providers may need to be submitted directly to the applicable provider.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Account & Data Deletion Policy as Climbing Mountains evolves, our technology changes, or legal requirements change.
When material changes are made, we may update the effective date and provide additional notice where appropriate or required.
