The Backpack You Carry

Have you ever stopped and thought about the backpack you are carrying?

No not that one.

The invisible backpack that follows you everywhere you go.  Filled with things that no one else can see or feel but you.

You know those words that someone said to you, that still somehow echo in your mind?  The mistakes you’ve made that you’ll never live down.  Those heartbreaks that truly never heal.  And the anxiety that you wake up with every single morning before you can even open your eyes.

The guilt, the disappointment, the fear, the “what ifs”. The voice inside your head telling you, “I’m not good enough”, and “I’m not a good mom.”

Most of us have carried these things for so long that we no longer know what it feels like to walk without the weight.

We still smile, laugh, show up for work, take care of our kids, and make all the happy posts on social media.  But are we really that happy?

Underneath all of that, we are exhausted.  Not because life is hard, but because we are carrying things that we were never meant to carry alone.

Emotional baggage is so hard, because people see the smile but don’t see the panic attacks.

They see you laughing on your live streams, but they don’t hear the thoughts that keep you awake until 2am.

Ive learned a lot on my journey, but here’s one thing.

Your healing doesn’t happen one day, because everything just disappears. You heal one piece at a time.

One new friendship, one conversation, one act of forgiveness and one deep breath.  Remember; your past doesn’t get to define your future.

Sometimes in order to heal you need to unpack something you’ve carried for years and realizing it was never yours to carry to begin with.

So think about this tonight;

What have you been carrying that you no longer need to?

Maybe it’s not about climbing higher but about putting one thing down. When we let go of what weighs us down, we make more room for hope, healing and purpose.

Wherever you may be on your journey, whether its just the beginning or you’ve been climbing for years, I’m here to remind you this:

You are strong, you are worthy and most importantly….

We climb the mountains together.

Your story isn’t over, it’s just begun.
